About 5 years ago, I decided that I wanted to travel to Southeast Asia. The reason? Just sit down and explore something completely new. It was for me to do this in order to grow spiritually and have a better understanding of other cultures as well as my own importance. So I started researching airfares on the Internet. I checked all the major sites like Orbitz. com and Expedia. com and also tried to obtain certain airlines (only to get an idea about the cost). I was surprised how cheap it was. I had expected to see cards range from $ 2,000 – $ 5,000 , because it close, costing up to $ 1100 only from coast to coast in to travel to the U.S.. Instead, I saw prices ranging $ 700 – $ 1,800 . I was shocked. All this time I’ve been putting off trips and it was only $ 700 away? , I felt cheated. Since I do not have any specific date in mind I played around with different dates and times of the year and duration. I decided to finally go out of season in summer (it was really hot there) and set a deadline of three weeks. I had no other way and I wanted to stay there too. I may be able to take things as they come and to modify my adventure, after what grabs me when I am there.

I booked a flight over three months in advance for $ 716. Left San Francisco for a stopover in Tokyo to Bangkok and then I had to transfer planes. The entire trip took about 17 hours. It also helped me to greater appreciation of their own culture and foreigners. It takes courage to go outside your comfort zone, but worth the effort and I believe are necessary for, to grow as an individual.
